Language Learning by the Montessori Method
Montessori schools offer children a rich environment, with special equipment which is designed for independent learning. Children work at their own pace and have some choice about the timing of their attention to different subject matter.
Until now, most Montessori schools had to suspend their approach to accommodate LOTE education delivered exactly as it is usually delivered in mainstream schools- once a week, in a group lesson lead by a visiting language specialist, usually without Montessori training. Now there is a choice, the photo shows some of the materials which can be printed out using the Montessori data-CD: self-correcting matching cards to practice vocabulary, research task cards, wall charts for weekly vocab. focus and more. Teachers can teach groups or individuals at the appropriate rates and children can follow up with practice, consolidation and creative application challenges. "Talking to the Whole Wide World" provides the context for the course and the content of the lessons that can be taught to small groups as they are ready to progress. ![]()
