Esperanto - Excellent Extension Opportunity for Bright Students With Time to Explore

Do you have gifted and talented students in your care?
Are you concerned that they are wasting time waiting for others to catch up?
Literacy skills, problem solving skills and thinking skills are developed by learning any language, and build structures that make their already well-equipped brains even more able to focus.
Because Esperanto is so regular and can be used to explore so many other cultures, is it an ideal extension project for students who need less time than most to cover the normal curriculum.
Building Better Brains and Thought Processes

In addition, students learning Esperanto spend more time practicing higher order thinking skills such as application of understandings to creative tasks, synthesis and analysis of texts and evaluation processes. This is because less time is needed for memorization in Esperanto, which lacks the idiosyncratic variations in spelling, grammar and pronunciation of most national languages.
The resource "Talking to the Whole Wide World" can be used by any teacher with an extension class, or even by a group of bright students taking turns to teach. The book does not assume any experience in either language learning or language teaching and comes with a CD to guide pronunciation and links to on-line learning opportunities and to a support community who can answer any questions arising.
Here are some more links to things that might be interesting to the gifted and talented.
